Yesterday, Fox released a trailer for the upcoming seventh season of "24", which won't begin until January.  You can watch the trailer at the link below, but if you're a fan. . . be warned. . . there seem to be a lot of first-episode spoilers in the clip.

"24" Trailer

By the way, for all the heat "24" gets for supporting torture tactics. . . it doesn't look like they're going to be easing up on it at all.  In fact, in this preview, doesn't it look like they're going out of their way to be PRO-TORTURE???

Have great weekend!!!!

Thursday 11/10/07

Feel good story of the day...for me at least.  You may have seen this already, but I caught it on TV last night.  An ad for the Make-A-Wish Foundation about a boy who's wish it was to be a "superhero" for a day.  One of his teachers found out about it and decided to take action.  The commercial is a recreation but the essence of the story actually happened.

Beetle Boy

Six year old Michael, wished to be a super hero.  During his wish, "Beetle Boy" rescued the city of Pittsburgh from the Green Goblin while Spider Man was on vacation.  He donned his yellow and red costume equipped with a shell, mask, boots, gloves and antennae, and set out to stop the dastardly Green Gobblin and bring safety and peace back to his city.  Beetle Boy, rescued a damsel in distress at the Pittsburgh Zoo, saved the University of Pittsburgh Panther mascott from certain doom and restored the city's water supply.  Hundreds cheered as the mayor of Pittsburgh presented Pittsburgh's favorite superhero with a key to the city and declared the day "Beetle Boy Day".

Ya gotta love it.

The Make-A-Wish foundation grants 41 wishes a day to sick and dying children.

How's the turkey digesting goin?

OK...so appearantly there are 26 different crime shows on TV this fall.  I used to watch a TON of Law & Order...but not so much anymore.  If you only have time for one, "Radar Magazine" has a quiz to determine the best one for you. Keep in mind I'm not sure how accurate it is...when I took the quiz, it recommended "The Sheild" with Michael Chiklis...never watched a second of it!  See how the quiz does for you!

Crime show quiz.

Ok...I don't usually get into the whole "Celeb Gossip" thing...but...Guys should know better!  If a woman says she's not preggers...don't keep acusing her that she is...tad incensitive!  Anyway...saw some pics of J-Lo, who along with hubby Marc Anthony, claim they aren't pregnant...these pics might prove otherwise...you decide!

J-Lo...baby hump or Doughnut lump...you decide!!!

Have a great weekend and enjoy the family time Thanksgiving Monday!

Last week I borrowed a chainsaw from my father in law.  Had to cut up a tree that I took down in my back yard.  Now...I'm a grown man, but can someone please explain to me why it is that when I use power tools, I still feel like I should have adult supervision?  No worries...I just hauled the branches out to the curb and the good 'ol City of Montreal came and picked them up and put them in their wood chipper...(I would so need my Dad around to use one of those!!!).

Hats off to you if you ran in (or supported someone who ran in) the Terry Fox run yesterday.  To date, over $400 million have been raised for Cancer research in Terry's name.  What I didn't realize is that Terry Fox Runs are done in 40 different countries.

Terry ran into Montreal with Montreal Alouette kicker Don Sweet and four wheelchair athletes on June 23.  Check out some his journal entries and thoughts during his trek here.

Luciano Pavarotti died at his home in Modena, Italy...he'd undergone surgery for pancreatic cancer in July of 2006.  Last month, he was hospitalized with a fever.  A little over a week ago, he was sent home, where he was being treated by his doctors.

In addition to his solo career, Pavarotti was also famous as one of the THREE TENORS. . . the group he formed in the '80s with PLACIDO DOMINGO and JOSE CARRERAS.

Pavarotti holds two spots in the "Guinness Book of World Records".  The first is with Domingo and Carreras.  Their first Three Tenors album, "Carreras, Domingo, Pavarotti:  The Three Tenors in Concert", is the best-selling classical album of all time.

The other is for greatest number of curtain calls, which is 165...very cool.

Luciano Pavaroti was 71

I think I found a Western movie that ladies might actually go see...not for the story of course...but because its the new Brad Pitt movie.  Check out the trailer for "The Assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford".  It hits theaters September 21st.

Also, a little insight into the new season of The Office.  In the form of a press release from the fictional paper company "Dunder Mifflin".  If you saw the season finale...its not a spoiler...if you didn't...skip the press release until you've caught up.

My kid sister (I really should stop calling her that...she's 26) comes back from a year in South Korea this weekend...Big brother is very happy!

Have a great Weekend!

Wednesday 23/08/07

Hey there...pretty much just getting back into the swing of things after Summer vacation...had a great time...kept it pretty quiet and finally finished my book...not that I'm writing...that I'm reading...anyway...check it out "A Fine Balance" by Rohinton Mistry...loved it.

America's Got Talent *ahem* wrapped up last night.  Did't watch a second of it but check out the winner.  Ventriloquist, TERRY FATOR won the $1 Million prize.

Check out his stuff on Youtube and watch for him...I'm sure he'll be doing the late night talk show circuit soon enough!

By the way...I'm in for Bergy this week!

Cheers,

Friday:

Another great day at the NIKE RUNNING LOUNGE set up for tomorrow.  Saturday morning...the perfect time for a run in my opinion...there's a 10k clinic at 8:30...then on Sunday afternoon at 3:30, the "Love your feet, Women only 10k".  So while your hubby is sitting on his fat behind watching golf on Sunday afternoon...a great chance for you to head out and try the Nike Plus System for free!  Plus, Sunday looks like it'll be a great day for running.  Have a great weekend and enjoy the Nike Plus System!

Tuesday 24/07/07

What a great day for a run...a little hot but that's the way I like it...nothing like a good sweat at lunch time to get ready for the afternoon...and what better place to do it than down by the water on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve at the Nike Running Lounge.  The Nike Running Lounge Team are there to help you out with all the latest Nike Running Gear...give you tips on the best running routes in the city.  Plus you can cool off with free drink after your run...there's also lockers there to store you stuff while your out trying the Nike Plus System.

Come on out and join us tomorrow for the Team-In-Training Running Clinic...I'll see ya there!

Hey...if your a runner...or thinking about getting into it...check out the Nike Plus System...and run like you've never run before!

Thursday 19/07/07:

As my friend Kenny likes to say..."Rain today eh Rob Kemp!!!"  Yes Kenny...rain indeed...but i ran anyway...if only the Nike Plus System could keep me dry...LOL!  No matter...on with the rain gear and out on the track for a great 10k run.  The post run massage comes in handy when you run the longer distances...and you can get that...plus lots more at the Nike Running Lounge.  A nice cool drink, running tips and the best routes in Montreal.  Ask the Nike Running Lounge team to tell you about the Nike Plus System...you can even try it out.

I'll see you again next week on the track...why don't we meet at the Nike Running Lounge and go for a little jog!  Have a great weekend.

Wednesday 18/0707

Back out on the Circuit Gillies Villeneuve this afternoon running with the Nike Plus System.  Much better run than yesterday...hey sometimes that's how it goes.  Another great feature with the Nike Plus System is that I can download all my running info on my computer and it keeps track of all my ups and downs...from the start of my run to the end...and from run to run.  More tomorrow but in the meantime, check out the Nike Running Lounge at Circuit Gilles Villeneuve.

Cheers,
Rob

Tuesday 17/07/07

Back out on the road this afternoon with the Nike Plus System.  Dragged my sorry bones down to the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve and the Nike Runner's Lounge for a quick 5k run.  Now I say "dragged my sorry bones" 'cause I'm a little sleep deprived these days...no biggie...but it just makes it a little harder to get motivated to go out jogging.  That's where the Powersong comes in handy.  Part of the Nike Plus System, with the push of the button on my iPod...my "Powersong" starts blaring (I'm using Maroon 5's Makes Me Wonder) and gives me the adrenaline boost to keep running!  Between you and me...I used the "Powersong" twice during my run today!  Check out the Nike Plus System and run like you've never run before.

Friday the 13th!!!!!

Growing concern over the conditions of lakes in Quebec...story in this morning's Gazoo about yet another lake that has been contaminated with "Blue-Green Algae".  This week's outbreak on Lac Ouareau, however, was "localized" on the other side of the lake from a summer camp, Raill said, noting that Lac Ouareau is huge, measuring 8 by 16 kilometres.

Blue-Green algae, also known as cyanobacteria, can cause skin irritation, itchiness, headache, fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain in humans and can be deadly to dogs.

Another day out on the road running with my Nike Plus running system.  I found out something cool about it this morning.  After completing a 5k run, the nice lady on my iPod told me I'd burned 386 calories...and how long it had taken me...I'll keep that to myself, but needles to say...no records broken here...)...anyway...Lance Armstong...ya the Tour de France dude...came on my iPod and congradulated me on my run!  Cool.  I'm hoping Katherine Heigl will be there to give some post run pep talks!!!

Congrats to Helena from St-Leonard, she won very own Nike Plus system this afternoon and will be joining me at the Nike Runner's Lounge on Circuit Gilles Villeneuve for a little jog around the track.  Meet me there at 4:30 this afternoon...you could win your very own Nike Plus System!  See ya there!

Tuesday 10/07/07

***Congrats to Jean Guy Guillemette...he's just won a new Nike Plus System complete with new Nike Plus Shoes and the Nike Plus iPod kit!

Join me this afternoon at 5 at the Nike Runner's Lounge on Circuit Gilles Villeneuve (ready to jog) and you could win too!  See you there!***

Have I told you how much I like jogging...no I really do.  Come on down to the Nike Runner's Lounge this afternoon...I'll be there at 5pm.  Its located on the Circuit Gilles Villenueve on Parc Jean Drapeau.  Its a great place to start or finish your run...plus you can try out all the latest Nike Plus gear...and I'll also tell you how you can win your very own Nike Plus Running system.

See you at the Nike Runner's Lounge this afternoon at 5!  Check it out at Nikerunning.ca

Friday 06/07/07

H
ey I love to run...no I do...I really do...especially with my new training partner...the NIKE PLUS System.

It's really cool...and trust me...its really simple. It's a small chip that slips into my Nike Plus shoe and links directly to my iPod. During my run...I just hit the center button on my iPod and a voice tells me how fast I'm running, how far I've run and how many calories I've burned.

Whether you goal is a full Marathon or half Marathon, 5 or 10 k race or if its just getting into better shape...as a runner I can tell you the Nike Plus will help you reach it.

The Nike Plus System.  For more info, check out Nikeplus.com And run like you’ve never run before!

Thursday 21/06/07

Hey there...two things...

One...apologies for not blogging lately...I spend way too much time on Facebook...you can always come and find me there.

Two...pay no attention of the picture of Nat pulling her hair out in the "On Air Now" section of this webpage.  She's on a little vaca so I'm filling in this week...of course if your reading this between the hours of 1 and 3 pm...then the picture is acurate...not pretty...but accurate.

So its "Kaptain Confession" time.  I went to the gym this morning and I put my gym clothes on at home and packed all my clothes that I would wear to work in my gym bag...at least I thought I had packed ALL of them.  Got out of the shower at the gym and realized that I'd forgotten to pack boxers...that's right...the only thing between ME and you...to quote Seinfeld..."is a thin layer of Gaberdine!!!!"

Have a great day!
Cheers,
Rob

Friday 27/05/07

Today marks the 30th anniversary of the release of "Star Wars".  Here are a few Internet fan films to help you celebrate...some of these should pretty much prove to Mrs. Kaptain that I am indeed NOT the biggest Star Wars nerd in the Galaxy!

Sith Apprentice:  Darth Maul and Darth Vader compete to be the Emperor's new apprentice in this spoof of TV's "The Apprentice"

The Pink Five Trilogy:  "Pink Five" has a valley girl in the cockpit of an X-wing during the attack on the Death Star.  In the two sequels, "Pink Five Strikes Back" and "The Return of Pink Five", she's trained as a Jedi and wears a bikini in Jabba's palace.

Vader Calls Palpatine:  This HI-larious spoof from the Cartoon Network's Adult Swim show "Robot Chicken" has the Emperor taking a call from Vader after the Death Star is destroyed.

Alternate "Empire Strikes Back" Duel:  More comedy brilliance from "Robot Chicken", this clip is of Luke's first duel with Darth Vader, with Vader revealing that he's Luke's father. . . and almost every other "Star Wars" secret!

Ryan vs. Dorkman:  These two films have absolutely THE BEST lightsaber dueling you'll ever see outside of the movies.

The Star Wars Kid:  And of course, no list would be complete without that high school kid desperately trying to pull off a Darth Maul with a golf ball retriever.  Here's the enhanced version of that, with lightsaber special effects.

May the Force be with you.....

I love it!!!!  One of my biggest pet peeves is people who "Block the Box"...you know...when someone tries to make it through an intersection but then gets caught by the light...and then you can't get through the direction you were headed!!!  Well this morning at the corner of Peel and St-Antoine, one such selfish individual got nailed by one of our "boys in blue".  Enjoy your 120$ ticket with your morning coffee in your self centered little world!!!

DON'T BLOCK THE BOX!!!!!

OK...I'll get off the soapbox now!
Cheers,

WILL GUNS N' ROSES PLAY A LIVE EARTH GIG IN GERMANY???

Amazingly, there are some ACTIVE GUNS N' ROSES fan-sites, and one of them passes along a rumor that Guns may be performing at a Live Earth show in Germany.

OK, not to give a lot of credence to this rumor. . . but what's the deal with these Live Earth shows?  I thought the European show was going to be in London.  Now there's one in Germany, too?  And what about that Antarctica show, is IT on???

The event is only TWO months away!!!  And how smart is it to book Guns N' Roses on short notice, long notice or ANY NOTICE IN BETWEEN???

Meanwhile, even more tracks from the phantom Guns album "Chinese Democracy" have been leaked online.  Those tracks include a new song called "The Blues". . . and updated versions of three other, PREVIOUSLY LEAKED songs...which is probably going to be the only place you ever here new GNR!!!

Enjoy the sun!!!!

McThursday 03/05/07

Yes...two hours of Grey's Anatomy tonight...mmmmm...two hours of Dr. Izzy Stevens!!!!

New from Camp Britney!!!!

You might have already heard this...but BRITNEY SPEARS made her "comeback" performance on Tuesday night at the House of Blues in San Diego.

Its pretty much unanimousl opinion that Britney LIP-SYNCHED the entire performance.  She was only on stage for about 15 minutes, and she didn't play any new stuff.

But the show was deemed a success overall...check out a clip of it here

Hey happy May Day!!!  Workers of the World Unite!!!...not try not to break anything while your out protesting...sorry...demonstrating!

Just back from vaction.  Pretty quiet.  Did some stuff around the house and even managed to get a golf game in.  I was also at Taste of The Nation which is awesome.  Unfortunaley I missed out on a lot of the food 'cause i was serving beer with the good poeple at Carlsberg Beer...not that I'm complaining!

Keep listening for the song of the day...your chance to do some shopping (for free) from the Eaton Center!

Have a great day.

Wednesday 04/04/07:

And I thought this kinda thing would only happen in Canada...I was wrong...thank you Morristown, New Jersey!!!

BREAKING NEWS:  THERE'S NO SUCH THING AS A DUI ON A ZAMBONI:

In 2005, 64-year-old John Peragallo of Morristown, New Jersey, was arrested at the hockey rink where he worked.  The reason:  John was driving the ZAMBONI all around the rink. . . and he was DRUNK.

One of his fellow employees called the cops and said John was SPEEDING in the Zamboni. . . sliding into turns. . . and he kept almost crashing it into the boards.  Plus, the entire time, John had a HUGE SMILE on his face.

When the cops got there, John blew a .12 on the breathalyzer. . . which is above New Jersey's .08 limit.  John told the cops he had a beer and a shot of vodka at work. . . plus a shot of Sambuca with his breakfast coffee and two Valiums.  He was charged with a DUI, had his driver's license revoked and got fined.

WELL. . . on Monday, New Jersey Superior Court Judge Joseph Falcone OVERTURNED the DUI.

He ruled that Zambonis AREN'T motor vehicles, because they aren't useable on highways and can't carry passengers.  Now you know. . .

Have a great day!

Cheers

KIRK DOUGLAS IS MY FRIEND!!!! No YOU shut up!  There was a story online earlier this week that Kirk "I am Spartacus" Douglas created (or more likely someone created for him) a Myspace page to promote his new book.  Well poor old Kirk had no friends, other than %@$% Tom, so I decided to add him to my friends list.  Fast forward to this morning when another story came out that ol' Kirk now has over 500 friends.  So I decide to go and check if he added me...(I crave acceptance...even fake internet acceptance)...and there I was...#2 on Mr. Kirk Douglas' Top Friends' List...second only to Tom!  Thanks Kirk...I can call him that...we're friends...you da man!!!

OH...btw...here's the proof. I'm #2!!!

Thursday 15/07/03

Great story on The National on CBC last night about a town in Alberta.  Okotoks is a small community that is leading the World, not the province or country, but the World, in being environmentally friendly.  They have made leaps and bounds in solar and wind energy, water consumption, and waste management.  Even their recycling plant is a recycled building bought from another community and moved to Okotoks.  Here's a quote from the "Sustainable Development" section of the city's website:

The Town of Okotoks became one of the first municipalities in the world to establish growth targets linked to infrastructure development and environmental carrying capacity (Sheep River) when it adopted a Municipal Development Plan (MDP) in September 1998. The Town, dependent on the Sheep River for its water and its ability to treat and dispose effluent, faced an intersection in its evolution in 1998 - it could continue to "grow without limits" and plan accordingly with access to regional infrastructure, or it could take a "road less traveled" and intentionally choose to live within the carrying capacity of the Sheep River watershed. A community-driven vision - to respond to rather than manipulate the environment that sustains us, chose the latter.

Check out the city's website and see if maybe there ONE thing you can do in your community.  We all know that we have to make a change to save the environment...but to few actually do...myself included.

LOL...I try not to let my head get to big...figuratively...literally, I do have a gian melon (second biggest at Mix96!).  When it comes to ego...I try my best to keep what little I have in check, but I was really brought down to Earth this morning after an email I got from the organizer of an event that I'm attending.

Thanks Rob,

I am trying to arrange for Youppi for next Friday.  I will let you know if it works.  Otherwise, yes the morning of the event would work too.

I will keep you posted,
Have a great day

John

My attendance depends on YOUPPI'S BUSY SCHEDULE?!?!?!?!  C'MON...THE GUY/GIRL DOESN'T EVEN TALK!!!!

"Does my finger in my mouth mean I'm talking about your dog to you?"  This is what someone said to me while I was walking into work today...clearly its Monday!  Hope yours isn't as wierd as mine!

Happy B-Day Kimma Jimma!!!

Thursday 08/03/07

So just when I forget why I'm not a fan of "celebrities" and their daily goings on...one of them says something stupid.  This time from BEYONCÉ who says she's EMBARRASSED BY HER WEALTH!!!

Beyonce is the latest in a long line of celebrities who claim they're ASHAMED by how much money they make. . . but think that just telling some reporter how ashamed they are is all they need to do about it.

Beyoncé made $16.1 million in 2006.  She says, quote, "I never imagined I would be so blessed.  I just wanted to be financially stable, and it embarrasses me, and I don't feel comfortable talking or thinking about it.  I'm not a flashy girl, and I don't flaunt it."

Now I'm sure she does SOME charity work.  But if all you need is financial stability, you can keep a few million, give MOST of it away, and free yourself from that crippling embarrassment. Instead...she's re releasing her B'Day CD 'cause she's decided to add a couple of songs that weren't done for the first time you had to go out and buy it!!! ATTICA...ATTICA...ATTICA!!!!  This has to be the biggest most digusting cash grab that artists do...embarassed by your wealth indeed!

Saturday 03/03/07

I got up early this morning to make the most of the day.  Had some breakfast and then went out to shovel all the fricken' snow!  Two hours outside to get it all done....AND NOW ITS SNOWING AGAIN!!!!! DOUBLE FRICK!!!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend...I'll be out shoveling...Again!!!

Monday 19/02/07

Jack Bauer almost killed me this morning!  No...sadly nothing as dramatic as Jack kicking down my front door with his satchel over the shoulder, and then dragging me (wimpering) into the Turcot train yards and shooting me execution style...all to save the country of course.  No...sadly....I was carrying the laundry basket downstairs and stepped on the "24...Season 4" DVD box...that was left on the stairs (!!!!!) and then almost went ass over tea kettle.  No worse for the wear!  Enjoy 24 tonight!

Cheers,
Rob

Tuesday 20/02/07

Just about threw the remote at the TV last night!  I was channel surfing and came across a report on CNN about Britney Spear's new buzz cut. Anyway...I don't have the words for how disgusted I was when reporter Jeanne Moos (who used to be a reporter for WPTZ in Platsburg NY) drew a comparison between Britney shaving her head because she's a vain starlett...to Demi Moore and Natalie Portman shaving theirs for movie roles (ie they had to for work)...and finally...and sadly...to Melissa Ethridge who did not shave her head...but LOST her hair after undergoing treatment for Breast Cancer.  Shame on you Jeanne Moos.

Here's a copy of the email I sent to CNN...I wonder if they'll even care!  Please feel free to pass along your comments to Jeanne Moos as well.

Here's a copy of the email that I sent:

Dear Jeanne,

As a radio announcer in Montreal, I can certainly appreciate the public's need/want for info on Britney and her new doo.  However, I was sadned to hear you make a connection between Britney shaving her head (for whatever vain reason she did it) and Melissa Ethridge LOOSING her hair after undergoing treatment for Breast Cancer.  I truly hope you made this comparison out of ignorance because you've never had to suffer through (personally or with a family member/freind) such a horrible experience...enough of us certainly have.
Sincerely
Rob Kemp

Friday:

One of the most challenging things about being a "Lost" fan is keeping up with everybody's back story.  ABC feels your pain.  Now you can catch up on the characters' back stories online.

So far, they've posted the earliest back stories of FOUR characters. . .  Jack, Kate, Locke and Sawyer.

Here's where you can check 'em out. . .LOST BACK STORIES

Have a great weekend!!!!

Thursday:

Well...only about half the snow "they" predicted which is good news....I think 15cm (in town...I know there was more out in the country) is quite enough.  Here's a list of things I realized while out shoveling the snow this morning:

  • Glad it wasn't "heart attack" snow...other wise I'd of quit after the first shovel full
  • Don't have to go to the gym today cause that was enough of a workout
  • My Christmas lights that I've neglected to take down...look prettier covered in snow
  • I look like an idiot in snowpants...but I don't get wet making snow angels!
  • The Christmas tree that I forgot to put out for recycling, is now hidden under the snow so I can wait until Spring to deal with it...I'M A PROBLEM SOLVER PEOPLE!!!
Have a great day!
Cheers,
Rob

Tomorrow's the big day...that's right...the annual Valentines Day Blood Drive for Hema Quebed at the Pepsi Forum.  I'll be there doing the big show on location...and yes...I'll even donate a pint.  Come on by and say hi between 1 and 4...that is if you can make it though all the snow...20-30cm on the way tonight.

Hi to my pal Gary who's out in Edmonton.  I know he listens to the Mix online once in a while...hi to the wife and kids for me pal.
