TORONTO - Canadian actor Gordon Pinsent will host a CBC Radio One morning show this summer offering "an unconventional take on the art of the obituary," the public broadcaster said Thursday.

"The Late Show," airing Tuesdays at 9:30 a.m. and Sundays at 11 a.m., will review the lives of little-known yet extraordinary Canadians, CBC said.

They include a street kid with dwarfism to an elderly man obsessed with sailing through the Northwest Passage.

Also this summer, the show "Between You and Me," hosted by sex columnist Josey Vogels, will focus on the worlds of sex and personal relationships. It will air Thursdays at 9:30 a.m. and Saturdays at 4 p.m.

And "Alien Nation," on Mondays at 9:30 a.m. and Wednesdays at 7:30 p.m., will delve into the lives of Canadian teens.

CBC Radio One's summer schedule runs from June 23 to Aug. 31.
