By 1976, bassist Bootsy Collins' career was flying high, as he was both a member of Parliament (who had made the jump to headlining arenas), as well as fronting his own group, Bootsy's Rubber Band. The same year, Collins was pulling double duty on the concert stage, as his band was opening for Parliament, and he was supplying bass for both. The 2004 archival release Live In Oklahoma 1976 shows why many consider Collins to be one of (if not the) top funk bassists of all time, as his infectious bass playing and personality singlehandedly get the party started.
