A Barca Do Sol was a group that was active between 1974 and 1981. Several of its members became famous musicians or interpreters: Jaques Morelembaum (cello), David Ganc (flutes), Ritchie (flute), Nando Carneiro (violão), and the brothers Muri and Marcelo Costa. The group's concept was to provide acoustic renditions of their originals, based on American folk, in the preferred 6/8 time signature of the Clube da Esquina gang (the structure that their beautiful hit, included here, "Lady Jane," is based on), in the harmony lessons of Egberto Gismonti and Dori Caymmi, and in progressive rock (some of the flute attacks are obviously reminiscent of Jethro Tull's).
